888-872-2629

I seem to have touched a nerve when I mentioned my travails with Chase's telemarketers from 888-872-2629. Five comments! I didn't know I had five readers.

They called again today while I was at work. Just for kicks, I thought I would see what happened if, instead of waiting for them to call me, I called them. Good news: if you call 888-872-2629, there is the option to add your number to their internal Do Not Call List. It takes about 2 minutes all told to submit the request. Of course, this wouldn't be Penguin Perspectives without the Irony of the Week. I added my home phone to the do not call list, and the automated message told me to allow 30 days for the change to take effect. We move--and get a new phone number--in 47 days.

Thanks for the info on the number. Finally got too frustrated with the calls and went online to see if others were having the same problem. Because of your information, I just called Chase and had my number added to the do not call list. Thank you!

I too went searching to find out who the number that popped up on my cell phone belonged too. Thanks for sharing the info. One less telemarketer to worry about now.

thank-you for the info. I got 5 calls in one day. But not anymore THANKS

I searched for 888-872-2629 on Google. It yielded two results, one of which is your page.

Unfortunately, Chase Bank, whom I despise for a number of reasons, has merged with Bank One, a company with whom I've so far enjoyed banking. I should probably expect a similar telemarketing call from them some day.

Anyway, they called my cell-phone and I returned the call from a regular phone at work, during which I was able get put on the DON'T CALL list.

Thanks for your blog on this.

Thanks for the tip. They call my cell phone every day. I didn't know who it was.

This is my first hit on Google of finding an anonymous phone number. Thanks for the info. So much for the infamous "no-call" lists in our state. They haven't slowed down any telemarketers yet. At least in 30 days this one will be gone. Thanks again.

I am constantly finding this number on my caller ID box (no messages) so did a Google search on it, and ended up here.

Yesterday alone, I received five calls from them after 5pm. 30 days x 5 calls per day ... So I should only get 150 calls from them before my number is removed from their list :P

YEA! I've been getting these for a month or more, usually only one per day. There's never anyone at the other end of the line when I answer, so I figured it was some wild autodialer. I never thought about calling it back.

I just hung up from adding myself to the do-not-call list, and its already called me back before I finished typing this up! Oh well, only 30 more calls to go until quiet phone . . .

Thank you, Thank you. These pests don't get it. How many times can you tell them no and to take you off the list. Thank you for the info about the phone number.

I have recently received several calls from this number. I answered one today against my better judgement (usually don't answer 800# calls but did to tell them to quit calling). Turns out they were looking for the person we bought this house from a year ago...and we don't even have the same phone #. Hmm. Anyway, if they call me again I will report them as being in violation of the do not call list, which we are on. http://www.fcc.gov/cgb/donotcall/ Try this link. I've complained before and it works. The company will get fined if they continue to call. Make sure you get the name of the caller and keep records of when the calls come in. Of course I don't think this works if you have done business with them.

thanks for the helpful hint! I got five calls yesterday - and then when I answered today they hung up on me!

Wow, just Googled the number thinking it might be important. thanks for posting the info. I also agree with the Bank One merger analysis. I finally find a bank I want to work with and Chase buys them out. go figure.

Let see if calling Chase bank and treating them because I am on the National "Do Not Call List" and their call list works.

Google led me to you when I searched on the phone number, and you've helped me eliminate their phone calls. Thanks!

If you are on the National do not call registry and get calls from here then post a complaint at https://www.donotcall.gov/Complain/ComplainCheck.aspx

I have been getting calls two or three times a day for the last few weeks. It is making me crazy. I don't want my baby waking up to Chase calling anymore. I looked the number up online and thankfully found your page. Thank you so much for sharing this info. Now I won't have to get to the phone to find this number once again on the caller ID. Thank you once again.

Hi, I just googled (888) 872-2629 and found your post. I called (888) 872-2629 and selected to list my cell phone number on Chase's do not call list. As you might expect, every day since that day for the past three week around 8:00 PM, Chase's automatic telemarketer machine calls my cell phone.

I went to https://www.donotcall.gov/confirm/Conf.aspx
to verify that my phone number was listed on the do not call registry and received the following message:

"Your phone number with the last four digits xxx was registered in the National Do Not Call Registry on 12/xx/2004"

I then filed a complaint against Chase of their phone number 888-872-2629 at

https://www.donotcall.gov/Complain/ComplainCheck.aspx

Thanks for the information. See, the internet and search engines are good for something important!

You do know it is illegal for a telemarketer to call a cell phone since you are paying for airtime. The problem is that they have a hard time to see if a phone number is a cell phone.

And yes, the national DNC list is a very good thing. :)

I called the Chase phone number that has been harrassing me unrelentingly for quite awhile. I opted to be deleted. The message I heard said I would be removed within 30 days. HOORAY! (Today, alone, I received 3 calls from that number.) Thank you.

I bought software called PhoneTrayDialup and a voice enabled modem to deal with telemarketers. With this you can program numbers in that you want to ZAP, by playing your own .wav file. I play the sit tone (when a number is out of service) to these tm's that continue to call.

Thanks for the information on 888-872-2629. Was able to add my number to their list. Be aware though there is another number I get daily too. It's 888-219-1662. They ask you to hit 5 so they can add your name to their do not call list and before you can do anything the phone hangs up. Will keep trying but everyone out there might want this information. Thanks.

Thanks for the tip on the Chase # 888-219-1662. I just called and requested that my phone # be deleted. Chase just took over our bank & they call about three times a day,week-ends included. Let's see if it works.

Thought I'd search cyber space to see if I could find the phantom number that called us at all hours EVERY NIGHT. I was tired of screening via caller ID or picking up and hearing the long silence which meant - uh oh - telemarketer -- hang up QUICK. The phantom number 888-219-1662. Finding your blog and the magic number to call and stop the madness -- made my day. 29 and counting!!

This blog post literally saved my life....saved some time in my life...a few minutes. Thanks for the info!

These people are driving me crazy!
I also called their # back to get my name & # off the list but am still getting the calls. I can't for the 30 days to be up!
PS: I am going to contact Chase and let them know I'm going to cancel my account with them due to the phone calls. Maybe if more do the same they'll stop!

I emailed Chase and told them I was seriously considering cancelling my card due to these calls and here is their reply:
