Query

It was an absolutely gorgeous day today--sunny with the temperature nudging 70. Of course, this means the upstairs segment of the Rookery is now warm enough to grow orchids. I have opened those windows that will open, and am now facing an internal debate. We have a small fan that I am using to help the ventilation process in the bedroom. Would it be better to face it so it sucks the cool air in from the outside, or so it blows the warm air out? The suggestion box is open.

Best to set up a cross breeze with two doors/windows opposing eachother and allow the breeze to blow through the house. Two fans, one blowing in and one blowing out on the opposite side will assist the process. If this is not possible, set the fan to blow in, to cool the indoor air rather than attempt to heat the outdoor air by drafting the warm house air through the bedroom. Ann O.

I would go for cool air in, but it doesn't much matter, I think, as long as you open another window to complete the circuit.
